My First C2C

One of the activities planned for this past Saturday's Worldwide Knit-in-Public Day was a yarn swap.
I received the Happy Baby yarn above, along with many other little crafty items.  Sweet handwritten notes were attached to each gift giving tips on how it could be used.
(I've wanted a spool knitter for awhile so look forward to trying that out soon.)

In the meantime, I've started my first corner-to-corner baby blanket.  I've watched friends working on them for a couple of years now and always thought it looked a bit difficult, especially the graphghans (changing colors within a project is not my forte). But it turns out a c2c blanket is made only using chains and double crochet, which happens to be my favorite stitch.
So far so good.  Since I'm using the yarn I received, I will be doing a color change at the end of the row.  And hope the decrease is just as easy as the increase has been.

Happy Tuesday!

This looks so pretty Tammy, I might ask for the pattern some time if you find it easy.
One of my Grandson's is shortly getting married and I am hoping that sometime in the future I shall be a Great Gran so this would make a lovely gift.
I have not crocheted from corner to corner so like you it would be a challenge.
Hope all it well with you.
Hugs

What a neat exchange in your needlework group! I'm happy that you're enjoying the C2C blanket.. I've made many over the years and just love how they come out. You'll have fun when you add the next color. You can get some real interesting results on how you add the colors. Enjoy your work on that! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

It looks like that was such a fun day. I love the idea of a little notes with each gift. You're doing great and the C2C blanket, and yes, the decrease is just as easy as the increase. Yours is looking lovely. Have fun!

The event must have been even more fun with the yarn swap - what a good idea! The nbaby blanket in progress is lovely and it's good to know it's an easy pattern to do. I must have a go myself at something other than a granny square blanket. Wishing you a good day.

Your blanket looks so lovely. I haven't made a C2C. Yours looks so delicate. How nice to receive such crafty package. When I send packages I often leave notes on each item. Nice to know I'm not the only one who does that. Hope you have a wonderful day. Lisa

That blanket looks so lovely already! I didn't know what C2C meant, but I've made handknit mitered washcloths that sort or miraculously turn into squares all by themselves...maybe similar magic involved?
And what a lovely swap...all those treasures! I had one of those spools when I was little, and it seems highly likely it is somewhere in one of the many boxes my brother sent to me when he emptied our parents' home for sale. And if it's in one of those boxes, I'll bet it still has a yarn tail, too. Can't wait to see what you make!

Beautiful pattern. The end result will be great.

Your package must have made you very happy.
Fun to visit a swapping day like that. :)
Here In Sweden, especially not here in the country,
they don´t arrange those things...
Enjoy your day!

Oh I love the contents of the yarn swap packet. Personally , the best part of a swap is getting hand written notes.

Yay for giving C2C a try..I'm sure you will be expert in no time.

Your C2C is beautiful! I am making a preemie blanket using Teresa's shell on shell pattern and I have never tried a C2C blanket. Is the pattern on Ravelry? Wishing you a happy weekend, Tammy! xx

How fun to swap and share crochet/knitting items. I love your beautiful C2C baby blanket. Surprising how easy something complicated looks when it is broken down to the simple stitches. Blissful Stitching Dear...<3

I've never done a corner to corner project... yet. Have you ever checked out the blog "Repeat Crafter me"... She has patterns she shares for FREE that I think you would LOVE. She has a lot of corner to corner blankets that are themed for Christmas etc. Hat patterns, scarf patterns, doll patterns... well you get the idea. It is literally my "go to blog" if I'm looking for a project. I hope you check it out :-)
big hugs,
Cheryl
