A Simple Pleasure: Coffee and Quotations

I'm linking up with Dayle at A Collection of This and That for another installment of:
Project Simple Pleasures2

I have friends who will tell you that I make a mean cup of coffee. I only use Maxwell House and it comes out perfect every time. (And, of course, the can then gets upcycled and passed along.)

But sometimes we go out for coffee. Most recently, we had a friend visiting from Spain. And next to his hotel was a mall.

We went here ...

to sit and chat for a bit ... in a nice, cozy atmosphere.

Caribou Coffee's slogan is LIFE IS SHORT, STAY AWAKE FOR IT!

I loved that the cups had quotations or affirmations all over them.

DARE TO ADVENTURE plant lots of trees SING OUT LOUD spin the globe then pack your bags GET YOUR HANDS DIRTY lighten up DANCE IN THE RAIN be the ruler of your own life LEARN TO SAY THANK YOU IN TEN LANGUAGES be the first to apologize HAVE A FAVORITE CHARITY give your change to charity DONATE BLOOD YOU HAVE PLENTY step 1 Rake Leaves step 2 JUMP you'll only be your current age once ONLY LOOK BACK IF IT MAKES YOU SMILE be the first to enter and the last to leave the dance floor INDULGE IN CHOCOLATE THERAPY spend time with your kids, tomorrow they're a day older DON'T WAIT FOR NEW YEAR'S TO MAKE A RESOLUTION marshmallows have no nutritional value, and that's ok POUR YOURSELF A CUP OF KARMA savor every sip

HAVE YOU HAD YOUR COFFEE TODAY?

Happy Thursday everyone (for us it is a happy beginning to the weekend). Friendship blessings, Tammy

Hi Tammy. Thanks for stopping by and leaving me a comment. Nice to meet you.
I love coffee shops but not coffee. Is that crazy? My hubby doesn't drink it either but we still go on dates to coffee shops. Most of the time we drink hot cocoa or eat a pastry. Love all those sayings on your coffee cup. Neat!
Happy weekend!

Hi Tammy,

I love sitting in coffee shops but rarely indulge that pleasure.

I'm glad you got to enjoy that "crumb of happiness" with your friend.

I've been to a Caribou Coffee house before, but not like this georgeous one you were at! NICE.
Love those quotes....something to think about, huh?
Yes, coffee this morning. Two cups of fresh ground French Roast with my husband. We start the mornings off like this most day.

Hugs,
Jan

*SING OUT LOUD
*GET YOUR HANDS DIRTY
*LEARN TO SAY THANK YOU IN TEN LANGUAGES
*be the first to apologize
*ONLY LOOK BACK IF IT MAKES YOU SMILE
*be the first to enter and the last to leave the dance floor

I love those!! ...and have to confess they actually happen in my life!! (I was just singing out loud...at work! ; thank goodness for office doors ;o) )
Coffee...I prefer juice actually. I do like coffee! with a little milk, but tea and coffee are not good friends with my kidneys :o( Oh well...can't have it all I guess.
have a great day!!

Aren't coffee shops the best? They always have such a great atmosphere. I haven't ever been to Caribu Coffee, but will have to check them out. I like the ideas of quotes on the cups.

Thanks for sharing.

Tammy, this is a perfect example of why I look forward to Thursdays Simple Pleasures. So unexpected, but so delightful and perfect. I may have to save this one for re-reading. Love the quotes.

Hi Tammy! I am the lone coffee drinker among all my tea drinking friends so I'd love one of your mean cups!! Those are funny sayings on the Caribou Coffee cups! And I love how you repurpose the used coffee tins - VERY cool! Thanks for stopping by!... Donna

Oh my, I just couldn't resist your title. I could get lost in that coffee house. And no, I haven't had my coffee today. I wanted to download my pictures and link up with Simple Pleasures and next thing I know I got carried away. ;) Love this post. Thank you for sharing and have a gorgeous day.

Saw Donna's comment and could not resist...you're not alone, Donna, not alone. I actually fill some of my teacups with coffee. ;)

Tammy,
How fun that some things are the same no matter what part of the world you live in! My husband and I "learned" to love coffee just a few years ago, and Caribou Coffee is one of our favorites! (We even named our dog Caribou, our other dog is named Latte!) I just love your simple pleasure!

I haven't been to Caribou for a long time. But, are those cups not the cutest. I feel a trip coming soon here.

I've never been to a Caribou Coffee. It would probably be my cup of tea... or coffee as the case may be.

I am well known for thinking that a cup of coffee is about the simpliest pleasure there is. I'm also a lover of quotations and would enjoy sitting there reading the ones at the place.

I loved those. Two of my favorites were:

"Learn to say thank you in ten languages" &
"Be the first to apologize".

And the marshmellow one was fun too!

Oh I love this! And, I would so love to join you for a "mean " cuppa coffee ! The quotes are great. I am really new at this whole coffee thing..when I was growing up, Mother would NOT let us have coffee...only tea, saying "coffee is for grown-ups"..then I became one and hadn't acquired the taste for it. LOL! But now I LOVE LOVE LOVE me some great coffee, a little time and a good friend! Enjoy your next cup and while I'm having mine, I send up a little "hello" prayer to you!

And happy weekend to you! The quotes are wonderful, upbeat and so true. Would love to see a pic of the baby blanket that made its way to Spain. Isn't it nice when someone so appreciates the hand work. Nothing like it!

Oh my yes, I have my coffee every day. You know, every time I see an empty can I think of your creations. And tell myself to remember to keep them. And then I manage to forget. Note to self: save empty cans.

I LOVE the smell of coffee but can't drink it (it messes with my stomach!) I am a lover and collector of quotes so those on your coffee cup grabbed my attention! The coffee cans you repurposed are delightful too!

What a great post!! I remember your coffee, and you really do make a great cup of coffee. I laughed when I saw where you went for coffee at the mall. When we were at Waiting for Superman the other night, Jennifer mentioned Caribou Coffee and how good it was. HA! The quotes are simple and wonderful. I loved reading them, as inspirational quotes are posted all over Doha with regards to the FIFA bid. I have loved them all.
Hope you enjoyed your coffee!!

Love,
Renee

I've never been much of a coffee person...aside from a period of time in college when I forced it down in order to stay awake and semi-alert during late-night study sessions! Tea, on the other hand...yum! I do love joining a few good friends at a local coffee shop for coffee/tea and fresh pastries, and your post has reminded me that it's been much too long since we've made the time to do so. I think you've inspired me to make a few phone calls today & reconnect!

Thank you for stopping by & visiting my blog. I'll have to post the falafel recipe that I used sometime soon...I'm thinking that it won't be long until I'm craving them again!

What a beautiful coffee house...I don't think we have Caribou Coffee-houses here in Australia. I love the idea of positive affirmations/sayings on the cups and serviettes. I haven't had Maxwell House coffee in years and I still have some of their large coffee jars which I use for food storage. I switched over to Moccona coffee but now I'm tempted to give Maxwell House another try. Admittedly, I drink more tea than coffee now.

Btw, your coffee cans are gorgeous! :)

Hi Tammy,
I LOVE coffee. I especially love the first cup in the morning. And the smell...
Thanks for stopping by my blog. Your coffee cans are beautiful. I just love finding uses for things instead of having to throw them away.
Have a blessed weekend,
Sonya
