The Journey Home

At the same time we were making our way back home, my dear friend Sheryll was on her own journey with her beloved Oma who was called home by the Lord yesterday, August 9th.

Erna H. Gromek (December 5, 1921 - August 9, 2010)

I took this picture of Grandma, as she was known to many, in May when Sheryll had a high school graduation reception for her daughter.

My all-time favorite pictures of Grandma are the ones where she is holding little Percy, one of the kittens that we rescued in April. Those two had a very special bond.

Grandma touched the lives of many in her 89 years and was loved by all.

May she rest in peace. My love, thoughts and prayers go out to Sheryll and her entire family. Peace & blessings, Tammy

Oh, that was a sweet post, Tammy. Hope you are all home safe and sound after your very eventful vacation. Oma looks like a lovely lady. I'll bet she was Polish, right? Hopefully, she will be a good liason from the other side for all who knew her. Thanks for sharing. Susan

Sorry to hear about your precious Oma, and I'm especially sorry that your schedule didn't permit you to see Sheryll at this special time in her life. I'm sure she would have loved to have seen you. Oma looked great at 89. I'll be sure to keep you, Sheryll and her family in my prayers.

Safe journey dear sweet girl. I miss you're not being here any longer, will have to wait for next year. Thank you so much for the treasures that were waiting for me last night when I arrived home. I posted them, I just love them. Prayers and blessings for Sheryll and her grandma. God grant them both peace. With love and hugs.

It worried me a little when I saw her picture & you had that she was born in 1949 because I was born in 1945 & I'm getting ready to celebrate my 65th. I'm a G'mother too & hope mine will always love me as much as she has been loved. Know you must be glad to be home. Jan

I remember and love that picture of Grandma with little, darling Percy. So precious, the soft, old hands tenderly touching the kitten (just like she did when she was a young girl perhaps). I know Grandma is happy and young again - feeling no constraints of age or time. Bless Sheryl and her family~
Did all the kittens get homes? and welcome home!

I am sure that Grandma had a long, full life full of adventures, lessons and love. I have heard so much about her from you, and I know that she will be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with Sheryl right now.

What a lovely picture of Grandma with the kitten. I have a feeling that is how you will remember her.

Thank you for posting pix and the news of Oma's passing, Tammy. I know you had a soft spot in your spirit for her the first time you met. Her funeral was beautiful and befitting of a woman who has given so much to others over the span of nearly 90 years. She loved all 7 of the orphaned kittens, as well as her own calico rescue of 6 years ago (Muffins). My home is empty now but my heart overflows with love, gratitude, and peace at each remembrance of the woman who helped to shape the one that I am today. With love, Sheryll PS: Oma's birth date was January 9th, 1921. ;-)
