Monday Blues on Day 8 and Memories, Too

Hello there! My name is Baby Beans!

Does anyone remember these dolls? This is Mattel's Talking Baby Beans and I've had this one since forever (well, at least the early 70's when they first came out). I looked up a description for her online:

This sweet little talking baby beans doll is wearing blue pajamas with yellow flowers and a matching bonnet tied with a pink ribbon. She has a pull string and she says the phrases "I'm sleepy", "I love you", "play patty-cake, "go bye-bye", "night night", and "baby hungry".

Yes, Baby Beans used to talk but sadly, I left her out in the rain one nite oh so long ago and that was the end of her speaking days.

September 7, 1971 was my first day of kindergarten. If you look closely, you can see someone just sitting at my feet. It is my sweet Toni dog. She used to try to get on the bus with me to go to school.

I don't have many items from my childhood but I do have Baby Beans. I have a couple of small photo albums that my mom kept with handwritten descriptions by each picture. Ever so often, it is nice to take a walk down memory lane.

Hope your week is off to a great start! Peace and blessings, Tammy

I don't have any dolls from my childhood, but my sister Sondra has a stuffed monkey that was my dad's. How cool is that?? Love the fact that you have been able to hold onto Baby Beans. I don't have many pictures of my childhood either, but I do have one with my mom, her mom and my great grandmother. Pretty cool!
Hope you are having a wonderful Monday!!

Love ya,
Renee

I have a stuffed cat that could be wound up and the head would move. She no longer works and is a little floppy, but I guess since I've had her for 51 years, she's earned a rest.

Enjoying looking at your photos. Just recently went through a bunch my mother has. Too funny some of them are!!!

Have fun!

How lucky to have those things from your childhood. I remember having a life size doll when I was about 6 but don't have it now. I have a statue of Mary that I had as a young girl, I had forgotten about that. It is so good to remember and have stories of our grands.

Hi Tammy!!!
Happy Birthday Month, Day 8!!!

Unfortunately, I was born in '70 and have no memories of these dolls. However, I wasn't expecting that to be the first photo and it took me by surprise and I chuckled, wanting to know more about it! I think it's cool that you still have it :)

My Birthday Wish for you today is Wealth.

Tammy,
You know I'm the "queen of sentimental". I not only love it - I live it. Yes, I remember this doll - my sister had one. My first day of Kindergarten was in September of 1969 when I was still 4 years old, so just a couple of years before your first day. :)

We're under a Winter Storm Warning here in east-Central Illinois and supposed to have upwards of 8 inches by tomorrow - possibly more. The problem here is always the strong winds that blow the snow in drifts across the country roads and highways. I love it though - I love being snowed in.

Hope your week goes well.
Linda :)

Dear Tammy, what fun to see your Baby Beans!. I have a couple of my old dolls, but my favorite belonged to my Grandmother. It was a sweet china headed doll with blond hair and a glove leather jointed body. I have it now, in the clothes Grandma made-that I played with in the 1950's. Love! Sherry

I don't remember Baby Beans. I guess because that was inbetween my youth and the birth of my daughter. She was more of a Cabbage Patch girl! You hang onto that sweet little dolly and keep her safe. Your photo is too cute!

Thanks for your thoughtful comment. You are so right about taking a leap of faith or (risk).
I will trust God in this, for he will direct my path. Thanks! Still Snowing....

You have quite a few things, you have saved over time. I unfortunately don't... I have always been one to clean house, and get rid of things I don't use. I do have lots of pictures and some baby books though. Hope all is well for you...any birthday plans?
love,Gwen

I don't have any dolls from my childhood but I do still have a brown bear that an Uncle gave me when I was two. I will be 64 next month.

How cute to have something back in the day. Like many ladies here, I don't have anything from childhood, only memories of all the wonderful toys my mom used to get. My favorite was a horse bouncer. Even when the springs broke off, I would ride that sucker. My mother has most of my childhood pictures so will have to copies of them, if I can find them in that big ol' box she has. I don't remember my first day of kg, but do have memories of it. Mostly of this kid Pete, who I crushed on. I remember doing centers too. Finally get to meet Toni. Such a loyal doggy you had.
Today I wish for you.....mmmmm....quiet, yes, quiet, is there another word for it. Let me check my thesaurus. Can't find it. Nasser put it somewhere. Anyways, I'm sure its pretty quiet at your place. Ahhhh, found it....TRANQUILITY. That's what I wish for you. How do you ever put up with me. I'm tired. Gonna go sleep now. Have a tranquil evening sweety.

I remember this baby doll. I have one baby doll from my childhood, but she wasn't one with a known name like this. I wish I'd kept a few more items, but we outgrow them and give them away. My kids have done the same thing. If we kept everything there would be no room in our house.
Blessings,
Marcia
